Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. “There is no royal road to anything.  One thing at a time, and all things in succession.  That which grows slowly endures.” –J.G. Holland.
For a minute I wondered if J.G. Holland was the guy who built the Holland Tunnel, in which case it seemed pretty clear that the Holland Tunnel is not a royal road either, but then I found out that J.G. Holland was Josiah Gilbert Holland, a 19th century poet and novelist.
