Native New Yorker, soprano Darynn Zimmer will perform the role of Alberta Kinsey, in the world premiere of “Zinnias: The Life of Clementine Hunter.” This groundbreaking opera is a joint collaboration of Robert Wilson, Bernice Johnson Reagon (Sweet Honey in the Rock), Toshi Reagon, and the author, Jacqueline Woodson. Her first solo compact disc, Oiseau Bleu, on New Albion Records, features a unique program of French art songs for piano and chamber ensemble, conducted by Ransom Wilson. Her latest CD, “Savage Nightingale,” features folk music from Spain, France and the U.S., in collaboration with guitar virtuoso Eliot Fisk.

Darynn Zimmer is a graduate of the Juilliard School and The Mannes College of Music.
