Sami Bronowski was born in London and raised in Paris, where he studied piano and violin at the Paris Conservatory, before switching to alto saxophone at the age of twelve. He took up the tenor saxophone a couple years later, out of love for John Coltrane’s sound. He studied with a few private teachers before entering the jazz department of the Versailles Conservatory, and started gigging in major French jazz clubs, including Sunside, Baiser salé and Jazzcartoon. He also opened for Louis Sclavis at the Versailles jazz festival with his own quartet in May of 2009. During that time, Sami studied philosophy and political science at the Sorbonne, earning Masters degrees in both subjects.

In January 2010, Sami arrived in New York and studied at The New School on a full scholarship. Since his arrival, he had the opportunity to perform with his own band at Dizzy’s, and as a sideman at some of the city’s great venues: Lincoln Center, the Iridium Jazz Club, the Living Room, Shrine, Alphabet Lounge and  Freddy’s Backroom. He has toured in countries around the world, including Israel, Canada, Belgium, Switzerland, and many more. Most recently, he was spotted with his saxophone doing stand-up comedy at Stand Up NY.
